Getting started
Seven steps, from installing Studio to your client’s first link. Each takes a minute or two.
1Install Studio
Download RoomViz Studio for Windows from the download page and run the installer. It installs for your account only, so it needs no administrator rights.
The installer is not signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
Your projects are saved on your computer in Documents\RoomViz Studio, and Studio works offline. You sign in only to publish.
2Sign in
In Studio, open the app menu and choose “Sign in to RoomViz”. Studio shows a short code and opens app.roomviz.net/device in your browser.
Sign in there, or create an account: with an email and password, a code sent to your email, or Google. Check that the code is the same, then approve. Studio picks it up by itself.
Confirm your email before you create a project, invite anyone or publish to a client. The same account works in the app and on this site.
3Link a project
Create the project in the app: its name, the client, and its kind: cost plus, lump sum or self-funded.
In Studio, open the Publish panel and choose “Link to a RoomViz project”. Only projects where you are the owner or a manager are listed. You link each project once.
4Publish
In the Publish panel, press Preview. You see every item: the plan of each level, electrical, sections, elevations, the 3D model, starred renders and schedules, each marked changed or unchanged, with its size.
Add a note and publish. Unchanged items are not uploaded again. The release takes the next number, R-1, R-2 and so on, and never changes after that; Studio keeps a snapshot named “Published R-n”.
An item left out of a release stays as it was. Archiving is done in the app.
The client sees nothing new until you switch “Client sees” on for it, in the app’s Design place.
5Install the phone app
Open app.roomviz.net on your phone and sign in. On Android: the ⋮ menu, then “Install app”. On iPhone, in Safari: Share (or ⋯, then Share), then “Add to Home Screen”.
The steps are drawn on the download page. The app works offline on site; entries go when there is signal.
6Invite a partner
In the project: More, Team, Invite. Pick the role, and the app makes a link you send by WhatsApp or email. Joining through the link needs no email check: the link is the proof.
A manager records and edits everything, invites people and changes the settings. A contributor adds and edits costs, and sees neither the percentage nor the client’s money. A monitor sees everything, the money included, and changes nothing. All four roles see Design.
7Share with a client
In the project: More, Client link, New link. Name it (only you see the name), pick the language it opens in, switch on what the client will see, and add a PIN if you like.
Then Copy link, Share or QR code. The client needs no account. From the link’s menu you can change its options, or turn it off, whenever you like.
What the client can see is set out in What the client sees.
